Moving Back to Colorado

We have a few excuses for not posting lately. We have been busy using the computer for job hunting. Luckily the internet to our house was working fairly well during that time period. Shortly after Jimmy accepted a job though, the internet basically went down and we have only been able to access it at school. So no blog posting. It is now back on a limited basis. There will be so many things we will miss about Zambia, but the technical obstacles will not be one of them!! We have also been focusing our energies on preparing for our move. We leave June 22.

Jimmy has accepted a job teaching in Westminster, Colorado, a brand new high school called Mountain Range. It is located just west of I-25. We are very excited about this new location, being even closer to Denver and Boulder. We are sad though that we won't be in Fort Collins where many of our close friends live. Poudre School District is going through a transition and there are not jobs available there for Jimmy. I currently am not looking for a job. I will wait til we get to Colorado and settle in. I might go part time, or no time for the year. We fly out to Colorado June 25 without Jacob and Mia for a week of house hunting.

It is a very exciting time for us, but also as I mentioned earlier it is a sad time for us as well. We love the Zambian people and culture and have made some great friends. It has also been such an eye-opening experience to see how so many people in our world live and also to see how resilient and happy they are despite their daily struggles of poverty and HIV/AIDS. Living here has offered valuable lessons for us, ones we hope not to forget as we head back to a society so drenched in consumerism and egoism. But the question remains: how will we effectively pass on these lessons to our children?
