Our Trip to Mutinondo Wilderness area

We had our first Zambian trip with the twins this week. We drove six hours north to a wilderness area called Mutinondo. There are no big game there. There is a beautiful river with falls and pools you can swim in. (Again, quite rare because usually there are hippos or crocs in the rivers). They have great mountain biking trails there too, which was the reason we went.
We took our nannies with us so that Jimmy and I could enjoy time together biking, have dinners, and swimming.

We drove the first day 3 hours and stay at a stopover called Forest Inn. The next day we finished the drive and were able to get a nice bike ride in. In both places they had a places for our nannies to sleep which was very convenient for us too. On Wednesday, Jimmy and I did a longer ride in the morning and then took the kids hiking to the falls for a picnic in the afternoon. We definitely did not rough it. We stayed in a gorgeous chalet built out of stone that was open one side. It looked out the rock domes and trees. It faced east so we got to experience beautiful sunrises (we get up at the crack of dawn these days... I wonder why...)

It was chilly enough to wear our warm sleepers. As always Mia is terrorizing Jacob.

Great self portrait!

We are so lucky to have such wonderful help!

Grace and Schola laugh that we use backpack carriers. They carry babies in a piece of clothe called chitenges. The kiddos love it.

I call this my "future Project Runway" contestant. Jacob loves to play with fabric.
