Jacob's and Mia's visit to Colorado

For the past week, we have been in Fort Collins, Colorado visiting friends. We decided at the last minute to fly out, check out the housing market, and catch up with everyone there. We were welcomed into Jen and Paul's new house, which was perfect and they happily shared their baby gear.

Jacob and Mia went on their first climbing outing to Vedawoo,Wyoming, where we did some sport climbing. They loved hiking in the Baby Bjorns. They also met Ella, Jon and Lisa's 3 month old daughter, Josephine (7 months) and Katherine (3.5 years old), Jen and Paul's girls, and Arlen (1 year) and Imogene (2 years), Mike and Esther's children. It is crazy to think that last summer, 4 of these kiddos weren't even born yet!

Jimmy and I would trade off the kids in order to climb and go out with friends. One night the guys had "Daddy Daycare" at Jen and Paul's house. Jon brought Ella, Jimmy had Jacob and Mia, and Paul had Josephine and Katherine. Chad was visiting from Steamboat Springs and was on Jacob duty, who slept the entire time. Mia, on the other hand, was her usual active self, keeping Jimmy busy. I went out with the girls, the first time since....well, can't remember.

Our kids are born travelers! They did fabulously on all the flights. Just like we said before, Jacob and Mia attract a lot of attention. People went out of their way to help us and many stopped and asked us questions about them. We were set up in Economy Plus on the way to Colorado and the rental car company upgraded us for free to a mini van. I was never a fan of the mini van, but now I am it. It was fabulous! We think Jacob and Mia are ready for their big trip to Africa, much to their Grandmas' dismay.

Jacob and Mia are getting big. They respond to our voices and we awaiting the "first" smiles. When on her tummy, Mia is now able to lift up her head and push up a little with her arms. Jacob can do it as well, but not for as long. They still feed every two to three hours. Jimmy and I are looking forward to getting longer stretches of sleep soon. They still need to put on more weight in order for this to happen. Mia did take two different 4+ hour naps during our trip to Colorado. This just needs to happen at night now!

Tomorrow they go to their 2 month appointment. We will find out their weights and they will get their shots!

Hi guys!

I'm so glad you made it out to Ft. Collins, it sounds like it was a great trip! I'm sorry I missed you this time. You'll just have to move back here, ok?? Sounds like it was fun with all the new babies too. Glad to hear that the babies are putting on so much weight. They look great! Still can't believe how much Jacob looks like Jimmy! Any luck on the housing stuff? Keep us posted. When are you heading back to Zambia?

Hugs to all of you!
Love,
melissa and adam
