Spring Break...Wait, It's Snowing!

Rusty the Snowman

If only we had more money. We would have hit the slopes.

We had such high hopes for this week. Weather looked decent enough: high 50s and 60s. Wednesday was to be the wet day, but we thought, that will be the day we go to the dinosaur museum and go swimming indoors.

Well, on the Friday before we left, it snow about 10 inches. Luckily the sun came out Saturday and melted most of it away. By Sunday we were on our way to climb and camp outside of Canon City. When we got to Canon City, it was dry there, no snow! As we drove the 15 minutes north though, snow appeared and by the time we got to our campsite, we discovered about 3 inches of snow...melting fast...good...but making mud...bad.

The first thing we did was make Rusty the Snowman to clear a space for our tent.

Mia and her mini Snowman

We did get two days of beautiful weather and climbing. The hikes were super muddy though. More and more Jacob is taking a liking to "climbing" (climbing up a bit and swinging on the rope).

Another photo by Jacob. This kid knows how to work the camera! Followed the rule of thirds!

Jacob climbing.....

and swinging...Oh and by the way, notice the tank top I'm wearing a.k.a. warm weather!

He's all boy.

Mia is up next!

Taking the swing!

Hanging out and playing.

Well, this story ends with us heading home today due a winter storm system coming in. That wet day mentioned earlier turned into a big storm. Luckily we made it home at the right time. Within minutes of coming home, it started to thunderstorm. Within 2 hours, it changed to snow and now there is at least 5 inches outside with snow blowing fiercely. Sigh...when will spring finally be here to stay?
